Two unidentified terrorists have been killed after the Indian army foiled an infiltration bid in the Sabura Nala area of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. An exchange of gunfire was going on when the last reports came in from the area.
However, a top police source informed news agency that two terrorists have been eliminated and one of the bodies has been retrieved.
Officials said that during the wee hours, the movement of 2-3 terrorists was detected and an operation was immediately launched. He said that the group of infiltrators was challenged by the Indian army, leading to a gunfight.
During firefight two terrorists were killed, whose identities are not yet ascertained, he said.
This is the first infiltration bid from Pakistan on the LoC in Kashmir this year so far. During the winter season when the snow sets in, infiltration attempts go down and pick up once the snow starts to melt and passes open up.
The GoC of the 15 corps Rajiv Ghai had recently visited the Line of Control to review the operational preparedness of the Army.
“Chinar Corps Commander visited Artillery units on the LoC today to review their operational preparedness and innovative infusion of modern technology,” the army had said.
